Tourist in Savannah
We’re more friendly than formal here in Savannah.
Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, we’ll welcome you with true Southern hospitality, just as we’ve been welcoming guests since 1733. Hip and historic, robust and refined, Savannah is where you’ll find amazing architecture, spooky cemeteries and rich history—along with global sophistication, funky nightlife and fabulous food.

Historic District Mansion
Savannah has more than 45 historical and cultural attractions. Discovering the Treasures within our many House Museums, Forts and historic sites, you will find a city full of artistic and cultural offerings. One of the nation’s oldest public museums, the Telfair Museum of Art, now includes a dazzling new complex facing Telfair Square. It’s surrounded by a wonderland of historic architecture and it’s only a short walk from the historic King-Tisdell Cottage, the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and the birthplace of Girls Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low.
Antiques and Galleries Galore: Savannah is always alive with the arts. Influences like the Savannah College of Art and Design and the City Market artist colony makes our Historic District the perfect artist’s muse. Antique shops, galleries and hand-crafted gift shops pepper every corner of the district and River Street, so explore and shop to your heart’s content.
Get to know Savannah through a city tour. The Savannah Visitor Information Center is a good place to join one. This will help you get better acquainted with our genteel Southern town and let you sample what you might want to explore more later.
Themed Tours: Savannah’s rich, 250-year history invites all kinds of exploration. Take a tour focused on antiques, architecture, black heritage, the Civil War, cemeteries, Savannah gardens, Savannah film sites, Southern writers or the best-seller “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” More than 40 tour companies are ready to serve as your guide. Allow 1-4 hours depending on what tour you pick.

The Owen Thomas House
Savannah’s City Market has several popular dining establishments. Dine outdoors at a European-style cafe or eat in one of the Market’s restored buildings, each has its own quirky charm.

Take an “up close and personal” look at Savannah’s magnificent architecture and 21 splendid squares. Get out your map and plan your route! The Bull and Abercorn Street corridors are a good place to start. These routes take you past some of Savannah’s famous Landmarks and nine of our 21 squares. Make sure you visit beautiful Forsyth Park, one of Savannah’s signature spots.

The Georgia Queen
Just 20 minutes from the Historic District lies Tybee Island, Savannah’s beach. Spend the day enjoying the sea breezes. Take a dolphin tour, kayak tour or deep-sea fishing excursion. Climb to the top of Georgia’s oldest, tallest lighthouse, or track wartime battles at the island’s two historic forts. Or just swim and sunbathe. Watch the shrimp boats come ashore with their catch, and know you’re in for some of the freshest seafood ever. Dine at one of Tybee’s funky seaside bungalows or one of their trendier, upscale restaurants. Hit the Tybee strip for nightlife and entertainment or take a moonlit walk on the Tybee pier.
