  The U.S. auto industry has suffered severe job losses during recent years. As Michigan Governor jennifer Granholm was looking for new ideas to increase economic growth, she was introduced to the Swedish Triple Helix Model by Lennart Johansson, the Swedish Consul General to Michigan.

• City of Växjö Expanding Partnerships with U.S. Cities
  After E-days in Washington D.C. in 2005, Växjö University signed a cooperation and exchange program agreement with Northern Michigan University (NMU). Several NMU engineers have visited Växjö to learn about Swedish district heating in preparation for a change from coal to bioenergy for campus heating, cooling and electricity generation.

• Strong Business Ties between Sweden and the State of Maryland
  Sweden is the second largest export destination for Maryland businesses. With a tremendous increase of over 150% from2008 to 2009, the value of exported goods and services from Maryland to Sweden is almost $400M.

•  Leading Edge Hydraulics reached a business deal with Lidköping based Jimec to establish a new company that will be based in Sweden. The new company will service Leading Edge’s customer base in Europe, providing equipment for companies like John Deere, Hitachi, Caterpillar and Haldex.

• Doug Pennington, Executive Dir., of Private Capital Network, California’s fastest growing angel investor association opened their first office in Sweden in March 2009 thanks to E-Days.

• In conjunction with Michigan Governor Granholm’s, visit to South Sweden Edays 2007, New Page’s pulp- and paper mill in Escanaba, MI, and the Swedish company Chemrec signed a $2.8 million dollar agreement to apply Chemrec’s black liquor gasification technology to the U.S. plant.

• In Sept. 2008, Ambassador Wood, King Carl XVI Gustav and Gov. Granholm of Michigan broke ground on an $8 million project between Swedish Biogas and Michigan to create biogas from the city of Flint’s sewage plant, to power city buses and produce fertilizers.

• The cities of Savannah and Växjö, signed an Economic & Environmental Collaboration Agreement to work on several industry specific areas including securing a sustainable future.

• Lidköping and Rockford signed industrial collaboration agreement thanks to SACC-USA.

• Several new collaborative agreements have been established within the bio-energy industry in Västra Götaland and several regions in the U.S.

• CIEL in Lidköping has established collaboration with Eigerlabs in Rockford.

• Växjö University has a collaborative agreement with the Northern Michigan University thanks to E-days.

• Representatives from the Arkansas Green Valley Network, visited Sweden during SACC Edays fall 2008, to encourage companies to take part in the network. Several Swedish clean tech companies are in contact with Arkansas about business opportunities in the state, for example Picoterm, Chematur, and Ageratec.

• Mardon International Healthcare Services from Arizona has started collaborating with several SACC members both in Sweden and the U.S. and has recently established a presence in South Sweden.

• Bellman Symfon found 10 new distributors through a SACC trade mission to Minnesota, Michigan, and Kansas.

• Göteborg’s Köpmannaförbund has established a scholarship together with the University of Gothenburg and SACC-USA for 150,000 SEK per year for five years starting 2010.

• SACC-USA has placed some 150 trainees with member companies and chambers around the U.S. since the launch of our Trainee Program in 2005.

• Radius, a Karlskrona-based telecom company moved to Rockford thanks to Edays.

• BenTech, a Helsingborg-based company, gained new customers in the U.S. thanks to Lidkoping Edays.

• Hammar Maskin opened an office in California recently thanks to contacts made through SACC.

• North Carolina, won the bidding for a Swedish company that’s building a factory in the U.S. employing 50 people. Connection happened at Edays.

•  Flexlink expanded its business in the U.S. through Edays.

•  April Systems in California is a regular Edays participant, picking up new business every year both in Sweden and in the U.S.

• Hammarplast proceeded with contacts in Philadelphia that were established at a Edays Golf tournament.

• Joint Venture World Wood Products, Woodlands Resources of Thomasville and a private investor; State of Georgia.

• Acticut International & Duralor Inc use nanotechnology in cooperation with a local company producing metal cutting machines; State of Arkansas (Green Valley Network- Incubator).

• MANTEC now represented in the U.S. and just finalized a B2B trade mission/visitation program; State of Georgia.

• Cortus from STING (incubator) in partnership with other companies (supply chain) for marketing its gasification system; State of Georgia.

• Elekta finalized a strategic partnership with the Swedish Cancer Institute during Sweden Week Business Focus E-Days Special Edition in Seattle, May 2010

• During Business Focus E-Days on May 6, 2010 in Seattle, Energikontor Sydost and enterpriseSeattle signed a cooperative agreement.
